Introduction to Sustainable Development
In the very first week, we learned about the introduction to sustainable development which is very important for us to understand its concept first. The three basic concepts of the sustainable measure are:

1) living within certain limits of the earth's capacity to maintain life.
2) understand the interconnections among economy, society, and environment
3) maintaining a fair distribution of resources and opportunities for this generation and the next.
According to Brundtland's report (1987), sustainable development means "development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs" and advocated the integration of environmental considerations into all aspects of economic and development policy in order to meet this goal.
In my opinion, the sustainable development concept is very important as it considers all aspects of our life and there are interconnected with each other - social, environmental, and economic- to make sure the resources sustain until the next generation, to improve the human welfare and at the same time did not harm the other creatures in the earth. The triple bottom line diagram also indicates the interconnection of these three pillars.
In conclusion, sustainable development will be achieved if these three pillars are balanced according to the required conditions and goals. The process is not an easy job and needs a lot of support and contribution from all levels.
Therefore, The UN has introduced the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) as a framework and indicator to make sure the effort and development in every sector are in line with the objectives that must be followed. The SDGs consist of 17 goals that I will explain further in my next blog.
